  • Difference between ICT test and FCT test

      FCT test and ICT test are two test methods in PCBA functional test, which play an irreplaceable role in PCBA quality control. Although both can test PCBA functional problems, their test principles and test items are different. Next, let us understand the difference between Fct test and ICT test.

      ICT test is an online test, which is mainly used to test whether there are abnormalities in the circuit function of electronic components on PCBA board, such as open circuit, short circuit, etc. To perform ICT test, it is necessary to arrange test points on the components in advance, and the probe of the tester must also be accurately aligned with the component test points during the test. ICT test is mainly a static test, that is, it is tested without power, which can quickly detect the causes of abnormal component circuits such as poor welding or wrong component installation, and can give abnormal test results to facilitate subsequent maintenance work;

      FCT test is an online functional test, which is mainly used to test the electronic and electrical functions of PCBA board. FCT test is a dynamic test, which means that it needs to be tested under power. Its test principle is to simulate the real running state of PCBA board, input signal or power to the unit under test to test PCBA. Whether the data parameters of each unit are normal during operation, the test mainly includes voltage, current, power and other functional items;

      To sum up, it is not difficult to find that the difference between Fct test and ICT test is that although they are both used to test the functional problems of PCBA, ICT test is mainly a static test, which mainly detects the circuit function of various components on the PCBA board, while FCT test is a dynamic test, which is used to detect the functional problems of the entire PCBA board. Generally, the order of the two test methods is to perform ICT test first, and then perform FCT test after the test passes. If the FCT test passes, it can only prove that the circuit board can work normally. Later, aging test and fatigue test will be performed to test whether there are abnormalities in the stability and reliability of the circuit board. If all the tests pass, it can prove that the circuit board is qualified and can be used normally.
